Soldiers from World War II "stand guard" during the 2nd portion of Beckley's 20th annual Holocaust Day of Remembrance Sunday afternoon at the Raleigh County Veterans Museum. From left, Liberty High School senior Joshua Brooks is dressed as a Russian Red Army soldier, University of Concord student Patrick Parker is dressed as a U.S. 45th Infantry soldier and area history enthusiast Johnathan Smith dons a British infantryman's uniform. The Russians liberated the Auschwitz concentration camp, the American 45th infantry division liberated Dachau and the British liberated Bergen-Belson. Parker's grandfather was a member of the U.S. 20th Armored Division, who helped liberate Dachau along with the 45th Infantry. Brooks, a senior at Liberty, heads off for the Naval Academy july 16th.
