Read MoreMorgan Hills resident Boyd Humphrey makes the final push home as he bikes along a steady uphill section of Sweeneysburg Road Sunday afternoon. He was finishing up a ride that took him from his home to Glen Jean, then to Mossy from there and onto Paint Creek Road where he eventually ended up back on Sweeneysburg. Usually riding anywhere from 20-30 miles, Humphrey put in over 50 Sunday, his longest ride so far this year. He has good reason build up his hill-climbing endurance, as he is participating in this year's Assault on Mt. Mitchell, a grueling 102.7 mile ride from Spartanburg, South Carolina to the top of Mt. Mitchell, the highest point east of the Mississippi. The event is widely known as one of the most difficult rides in the country.
