Beckley firefighter Scott Datsko performs a routine maintenance check high atop Ladder #1 Monday morning in front of Park Middle School. Mondays are the day fire departments throughout the area test and check their equipment for any repairs that might be needed. Station #1, located on 3rd Avenue, brought a couple of their trucks to Park Middle where they'd have some space to extend the massive ladder to make sure it works properly.
