Lifelong Bolt resident Carol Worley Johnson reflects on childhood memories of growing up around the legendary Little Jimmy Dickens as Wayville (background left), her husband of 42 years, looks on during a Register-Herald visit to their Fairview School Road home December 30. As an eight-year-old, Johnson, then Worley, had a big crush on the already popular Dickens, who was more than a decade older than her. She recalled a time when Dickens came to Breckenridge Missionary Baptist Church, which is still around today. Everyone wanted to meet him and be close to him that day, but the young Worley managed to get herself a seat right beside him in the pew he was sitting in, and her fellow residents were later a bit jealous of her taking up all his attention.
