Woodrow Wilson's Michael Maiolo takes a cut during an indoor, wooden bat hitting league game against Scott High School Sunday afternoon inside the Upper Deck Baseball & Softball Training Academy. Teams of four hitters from high school teams across the area compete in simulated seven inning games in a batting cage using computer software similar to that used in golf simulators. Tracking sensors in the cage display where the ball travels and how far through virtual Major League Baseball stadiums displayed on screens and whether or not a fielder makes a putout. The seven-week (weekends) league includes teams of hitters from Woodrow Wilson, Midland Trail, Princeton, Bluefield, Scott, Greater Beckley, Fayetteville and even Graham High School out of Bluefield, Virginia.
