Nancy Bruns, co-owner of J.D. Dickinson Salt Works, describes her family's Malden-based business as the keynote speaker of a Beckley Rotary Club luncheon Tuesday afternoon at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center. Bruns and co-owner Lewis Payne, the seventh-generation siblings of original salt producer William Dickinson starting in 1817, revived their family's historic business two years ago and produce three types of salt from a well along the Kanawha River that taps into a 400-million-year-old sea under the Appalachian mountains.
