Marshall University held their annual fountain ceremony at the Memorial Student Center Plaza Saturday morning honoring the 45th anniversary of the crash of Southern Airways Flight 932—a chartered airliner carrying the 1970 Marshall Football team that killed all 75 passengers and crew on board. The fountain, made of 75 upward-pointing rods to represent the victims, is turned off every year at the ceremony and remains off until spring practice begins for the following season. In all, 37 players, eight coaches, 25 fans and five crew members were killed in what stands as one of the worst tragedies in collegiate sports history.
