Hinton resident Steve Allen (near) looks through albums of railroad photographs, articles and records with the help of their owner Jerry Davis (behind Allen) during Hinton's Historic Railroad Days Festival Saturday inside the town's railroad museum. Allen, a CSX engineer for the last 18 years, grew up with the railroad in his blood. His father John was a railroad clerk for 35 years, while Davis' father James worked for 43 years as a crew dispatcher and spent a great deal of that time photographing fellow workers, yielding the massive detailed photo collection on display Saturday. The collection doesn't reside in Hinton's museum however, making its appearance a real treat. Since James' passing in 1991, Jerry said it's remained private, only being brought out to the museum for display and browsing for two weekends a year during the annual festival.
