Read MoreAuthor and Daniel Boone expert Randall Jones, from Winston-Salem, N.C., left, speaks with Gloria Mallamas, right, at her home on Sunrise Ave. in Beckley, as her niece Linda Jarrett listens, about Daniel Boone. Jarrett found a Daniel Boone Trail Marker placed by the Daughters of the American Revolutiuon in the Jefferson National Forest in Virginia around 1913 that was discovered and salvaged by Gloria Mallamas late husband while working in the national forest in the 70s and kept in their basement until Jarrett found it while cleaning the basement on Monday. Jones, who was working on behalf of the DAR, was bringing the marker, which is just one of several that are missing, back to them for historical preservation. (Chris Jackson/The Register-Herald)
