(Brad Davis/The Register-Herald) One at a time, rescue personnel from Fayetteville, Oak Hill and Ansted fire departments use a ladder truck to help stranded volunteers at the Fayette County Humane Society Animal Shelter across the flooded creek Thursday afternoon near Fayetteville. Several volunteers and employees were stranded when flood waters washed away the small bridge at the shelter. In this photo shelter volunteer Anna Bennett (middle on ladder) is escorted to safety.
