Rainelle Mayor Andy Pendleton, looks over the sidewalk project on Main Street. Pendleton said, "We hope to improve the walkability of this area to the Rainelle Elementary School," noting the project had been on the drawing board for the past two years.The City of Rainelle received a $230,000. grant to replace 1100 feet of sidewalks which also includes repairs of curbs and installation of ADA-compliant ramps along the sidewalk system running along Kanawha Avenue from Dogwood Lane at the elementary school, continuing west past Sumac Lane and Oak and Walnut streets. In addition, a new crossing lane and light will be installed at Sumac Lane.
