(Brad Davis/The Register-Herald) A group of hikers embark on a light, 2.5 mile journey along the Timber Ridge, Fayetteville and Long Point trail loop as they "Opt Outside" instead of partaking in the long lines and hustle of Black Friday shopping Friday afternoon at the Long Point trailhead. Active Southern West Virginia community captains Levi Moore and Hilarie Jones, among others, helped organize the annual hike, which began with the basic idea of encouraging outdoor recreation instead of consumer shopping.
