Allen Chatfield, bell ringer for Salvation Army was the first one set up today in front of Rural King at Crossroad Mall in Prosperity. They will be ringing the bell there for donation now until December 24 from 11 am to 7 p.m. Major Ronald Mott said, this is their largest fund raiser of the year that raises around 100,000., but fell way short of that goal in 2020 because of the pandemic. Only $25,000 was collected and also fell short of the 19 bell workers needed and volunteers. Mott said, we desperately need bell workers and volunteers from church groups, club, schools, etc. from November 20 to December 24 and anyone interested can contact Salvation Army bell coordinator Jerry Lester at 304-207-7275.
