Matt Bergman provides therapeutic fire cupping for Johnny Morgan in his studio in Ronceverte Thursday. Fire cupping is an ancient Chinese medicine where fire is used to create suction in cups and placed on different parts of the body. It promotes circulation and helps muscles to relax and energy to flow. Bergman has Master science in acupuncture and purchased the old American Legion building in Ronceverte, which he renovated and opened Community Acupuncture in February. “Most of the medicine itself is holistic in nature so people might come in for back pain, headache or allergies. We treat those acute symptoms but also the whole body and what in the body might be unbalanced to help the body to heal itself,” he said.
