Renick Food giveaway

Dalton Knapp helps hand out food at a mobile food bank event in Renick Wednesday. The event was a collaboration between the Mountaineer FoodBank and Renick Community Center. President of the Renick Community Center Cheryl Workman said that Renick is in a food desert, with the closest grocery store being the Walmart in Lewisburg. She said some individuals have to travel 45 min to buy food and and they will typically serve around 400-500 individuals during a food drive. “The mission of the Renick Community Center is to serve the citizens of our community by bringing opportunities to them that they wouldn’t otherwise have because we are an underserved and under populated area,” Workman said.
